Challenge
To create a game for college students. To design the branding for the game as well as the packaging and cards. To come up with the game content and gameplay. To have a learning component and be interactive.
Solution
Our team decided to create a game named "Freudian Slip" as the name connects to one of the the most popular figures in psychology; Sigmund Freud. The logo and icon we created is a sketch of Sigmund Freud in one of his iconic looks. We based the content around broad psychology facts that are addressed in introduction to psychology courses. For the design, we decided to keep a monochromatic colour palette of blues as blue is associated to calm, loyalty, and honesty.
Gameplay
The game is played with two decks. The first is the “theme” deck that provides the theme of the conversation as well as an opening general discussion question to get the conversation started. The second is the “sentence” deck which provides players with a sentence/fact that they need to attempt to casually include into the conversation. Players need to “slip in” these sentences/facts that relate to the different themes in the game. Players get closer to winning by successfully identifying when another player “slips in” a sentence/fact into the conversation. After 20 minutes, the player with the most “sentence” cards collected from identifying the other players’ conversation “slips” wins the game.
